Welcome to the South Dakota Chorale

A Choral Crossroads in the Heart of the Nation

We are an auditioned professional choir that brings people together to make great music.

"Bach at its best! Sung with understanding and joy."
--Steve Staruch of Minnesota Public Radio

Raising Our Voices: Bach and Beyond is the most recent project by the South Dakota Chorale. January 7-11 the singers returned for a week of rehearsal in preparation for concerts January 10 in Sioux Falls and January 11 in Brookings. Our collaboration with the Lincoln High School Concert Choir (Linda Conrad, director) and the Brookings High School Concert Choir (Denise Perry, director) for these concerts brought an exciting new dimension to the week.

The live concert recording of Bach's Jesu, Meine Freude from the January 10 concert at St. Joseph Cathedral in Sioux Falls will be broadcast on Minnesota Public Radio's Regional Spotlight program during the 3:00 CDT hour on Thursday, March 14.

Our Premier Recording "In Paradisum: The Healing Power of Heaven"

…”I do believe I’ve found a new favorite performance of this ravishing music. (Durufle)”. Few American choirs (or for that matter, any others) have made this kind of open-mouthed, soul-satisfying first impression on me.  --Lindsay Koop in American Record Guide

Congratulations to our friend and colleague Blanton Alspaugh of Sound/Mirror in Boston.  He won a Grammy for Producer of the Year: Classical for his brilliant work, including our premier recording, In Paradisum.
